Selecting a Services Partner for Enterprise Content Management |
| |
| |
Success with Livelink ECM requires technical skill. Some organizations hire and build talent internally. Others prefer to use consulting firms or outsourcers. If you’re looking for a partner, of course we hope that you will choose TechRP. But not matter whom you choose, we want you to make the right choice. So we encourage you to ask the following questions—and we’ve helpfully provided the answer that TechRP would give. |
| |
| |
- What are the backgrounds of the principals in your ECM practice?
| |
Why ask? You are looking for commitment and skill. You want to see experience, not opportunism; depth, not breadth; and commitment, not a vague statement of “vendor neutrality.”
| |
| |
- How deep is your knowledge of Open Text?
| |
Why ask? An insider’s knowledge of the vendor is often the only way to get things done.
TechRP can educate you on the way Open Text is organized and managed. We stay on top of reorganizations, comings, and goings. We have inside knowledge about future plans and will share our knowledge, always within the strictest bounds of confidentiality and commercial prudence.

| |
| |
- What is your level of awareness of the Livelink subcontractor community?
| |
Why ask? Inexperienced Livelink people are a dime a dozen; good ones are hard to find and harder to cultivate. Check Dice or Monster, and don’t let your vendor say “we can find the resources” without understanding the market.
TechRP knows the community and will name 20 people or companies in N. America that we talk to regularly. We cultivate relationships actively and will share them with you. It is a key component of our strategy. We can describe the Livelink “ecosystem” in detail and participate in it every day.

| |
| |
- Can you quote a fixed price?
| |
Why ask? If you know the business, you should know the cost.
TechRP offers its Fixed Price Guarantee. In writing. With references.
| |
| |
- What is the name of the Open Text user conference? When is it being held, and are you going?
| |
Why ask? An expert in a product makes a point of being active in the user community, meeting other partners, and staying up on the vendor’s direction. To do this, you must attend the product’s annual user conference.
TechRP attends every year, actively supports the conference, and will share perspectives before, during, and after. Vendor conferences are expensive and time-consuming—many firms are tempted to skip them. Yet they are essential for any systems integrator that is committed to those products.
