- Blum Capital—San Francisco, California: Blum Capital utilizes private equity and strategic block transactions to invest in both public and private companies for its institutional and high net worth partners. Livelink is the backbone of document control, providing support for workgroup collaboration and audit compliance. The system includes a scanning and imaging component that was incorrectly identifying the type of documents in many cases, invalidating the results of several key management reports. TechRP experts from the ODC duplicated the problem, identified and resolved the root cause, and provided a solution in a matter of days. Audit reports now correctly reflect the state of documentary evidence and Blum Capital is pursuing additional return on its investment in ECM.
- Comdata—Nashville, Tennessee: Comdata designs and manages payment processing networks for government and commercial Clients, processing millions of transactions every day. The organization chose Open Text Livelink to be the backbone of its document management and audit compliance activities for Information Technology governance. TechRP conducted the initial installation and configuration of Livelink. The team worked from its ODC and Nashville office to: implement community, information, and security models; designed and implemented an extensible corporate taxonomy; and automate document control business processes. The initial departmental implementation was a success and Comdata now plans to use Livelink for corporate records management. Using web services, Livelink will also interact with several line-of-business systems to enable innovative new product lines.
- Digene—Gaithersburg, Maryland: Digene develops, manufactures, and markets proprietary DNA and RNA tests focused on women's cancers and infectious diseases. Compliance with FDA requirements over document control is part of everyday life at a life sciences organization; Livelink has been the ECM backbone of choice for two years. After a recent explosion in system usage, Digene faced problems in the areas of software compatibility, system performance, and change management. TechRP team performed an ECM assessment, conducting interviews and performing a system audit on-site work with its set of proprietary utilities. The resulting deliverable was a roadmap for the next 18 months of ECM stabilization and improvement at Digene.
- Factiva—Princeton, New Jersey: Factiva is a Dow Jones-Reuters company that acquires, packages, and re-sells business news and information worldwide. The company controls and manages the acquisition of this information through a set of automated Livelink business processes called the Information Provider (IP) workflow. TechRP analyzed and improved the IP workflow set in terms of execution times, fitness to business purpose, and reporting. Over the course of several engagements, the team made functional and technical improvements to the IP workflow and improved the technical system architecture. As a result, Factiva has significantly reduced its backlog of ECM project requests, improved efficiency, and reduced costs of system maintenance. TechRP now supports the system from the ODC and is the preferred outsourcing partner for ECM systems at Factiva.
- Hovensa, US Virgin Islands: Hovensa operates a world-class merchant refinery in St Croix, USVI—the eighth largest in the world. - Wells Fargo Bank —San Francisco, California :This large, multi-product concern (name withheld on request, hereafter “the firm”) has been using Livelink for almost five years, supporting thousands of users in a complex, highly customized environment. When the time came to upgrade the software, the firm learned through painful experience that none of its approved IT vendors could provide competent Livelink expertise from its staff. Attempts to hire Livelink people from the ecosystem of contractors were a dismal failure. Finally, the firm called TechRP and was able to gain access to highly qualified expertise on an as-needed basis. The upgrade was completely successfully and TechRP showed that it was willing and able to look out for the needs of its Clients, even where internal staffing policies were dysfunctional.
- MetLife—Greenville, South Carolina: MetLife is an insurance company with a mission-critical commitment to document control, assembly, and production using Open Text Livelink and InSystems Calligo. Using a combined on-site and offshore team, TechRP helped MetLife plan and execute a complex, multi-step upgrade in multiple environments. The team also planned and executed a comprehensive change management effort. Now that the environment is stable and up-to-date, MetLife is realizing lower support costs and is in a position to take advantage of the complete range of ECM functionality.

As Livelink replaced the hard-copy deal books, generating correct and timely reports out of the system became time-consuming and unreliable. Working from its Offshore Development Center (ODC), TechRP analyzed data requirements and wrote or re-wrote reports using the Open Text LiveReports and Web Reports functionality. The end result was significant process improvement, better management information, and timely audit compliance. Benefits included reduced administrative overhead and the elimination of rework related to the organization of documentary records. TechRP has continued to deliver ECM benefits to Republic Financial, including design and customization of complex workflows to automate the creation of loan folders using category-based metadata.

But a KM system is only valuable if it is used. A barrier to usage emerged with many users and knowledge champions began to complain about the standard way that Livelink handled permission when moving a knowledge artifact from one location to another. TechRP modified the Livelink move functionality to make it resemble the desired features of the Livelink copy.
